Dieci
Dieci, a cappella vocal octet, have been ‘wowing’ audiences in Scotland with their unique sound and vibrant performances for the past two and a half years. They are a young, dynamic group made up of singers from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Scotland's premier music conservatoire. They have performed at festivals and private functions across Scotland and five of the singers have sung in the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain and Scotland, and the Ulster Youth Choir, backgrounds which enrich the variety and versatility of this vocal ensemble.

Dieci have a shared love of music old and new, classical to contemporary and British to beyond! They have delighted audiences with their unique approach to music making and have most recently sung at the Balqhuidder Summer Music Series, Brecon Arts Festival, the opening of Winterfest in Glasgow's George Square and the RSAMD Fellows Graduation reception for Lord Attenborough and James McAvoy. Earlier this year, they were highly commended in the Governers Recital Prize for Chamber Music and were shortlisted for the Enterprise Music Scotland Residency Project. In December 2008, Dieci were Grand Finalists of the BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year competition, the largest and most prestigious competition of its kind in the UK, which was televised from the Royal Festival Hall, London, on BBC Four. This is what some of the judges said about their performance:

'Excellently controlled, witty, resourceful and technically assured' with 'lovely blend and colour'. 'A lot of fun and very impressive' - Howard Goodall

'Outstanding and imaginative'. 'Your diction and ensemble are excellent' - Suzi Digby

'Really engaging, thoughtfully sung and totally entertaining' - Mary King

Dieci are keen to pass on their passion for singing to the younger generation and lead workshops for various age ranges – from primary school age through to late teens. These have been extremely successful and they are in great demand throughout the UK. Most recently, Dieci worked with the RSAMD Junior Academy Chamber Choir in a workshop and performance, which was met with great enthusiasm from both students and staff, and has led to an invitation back to work with more of the students. Please see the Education section of the website for more detailed information.

Dieci recently completed a tour of the South of England and would like to thank the Musicians Benevolent Fund, Jolly Property Services, Langdon Builders and Ward House Financial Services who have all helped fund it.
